At stage 2+ I never got much more than 260 miles to a tank. The best mileage I ever got was 105, but the reason I say it was the best is because it was at the Nurburgring

Stock you should be getting over 300 miles from a tank easily. :scared:

A 3 mile journey will return rubbish MPG. If I pop to the shops in my car it will do about 10-15MPG

Yup I know that, but my car only gets used for 4 x 2-3 mile journeys per week and it gets treated to a 330 mile round trip once every 2 months to visit family, otherwise it sits on the drive getting cleaned twice per week.

Yes tesco momentum 99 octane is the way forward for me, i shop at Tesco and get 5p off per litre voucher every 2 weeks i shop, although I only fill up once per month max anyway lol.

I always used to use Shell V power 98 on my previous cars but as the nearest shell garage is a 35 mile round trip i dont bother these days  :surprised:

If you use the instantanious fuel consumption part of the computer you will see how your driving style effects consumption.........  On a dual carriageway/motorway at steady 65-70 mph  will return comfortably 34-35mpg  but st 80mph i am lucky to see 30mpg ! Overall 32mpg average is quite usual for me  :happy2:

How can Vw quote 41mpg for extra urban then? I can't get Near 40 on a motorway.

I personally don't know. The combined figure quoted  ' 35.8' is closer to reality; I'm sure if you drive like miss daisy anything is possible.

Hi all

I have recently bought an ed30 dsg golf its totally standard with no engine mods,
I filled it up about 10 days ago and she is now empty....i have only done 240 miles
On a full tank i must be honest i think thats crap!

I dont drive it hard, just the odd now and again when overtaking.

Can anyone tell me what they get to a full tank?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Mart

Same here. When I first got the Edition30, I was driving it everyday and covered about 1200 :driver: miles in the first week! I was fuelling with VPower, filled up to the top. The past few weeks I havent been working due to contract ending and fook all jobs out there, and doing shopping runs and short journeys really saps the MPG. Ive been using BPUltimate the last few weeks as its the closest petrol station. I put in £30 quid on Weds and only 130 miles returned. This is with moderate driving.   :nerd:

I'm getting 23mpg from my DSG GTI but I do about 90% very short runs; my commute is less than 2 miles each way. I get almost exactly 240 miles from 50 litres of Tesco Momentum99. On a run I can get 36mpg.

I used to have a gti at 2+ and caned it most of the time. I was achieving an average of 22 23mpg.  When driven normally I’d get mpg into the 30’s without even trying.

My ed30 however is a different story. If I cane it like I did the gti you can almost see that fuel gauge go down which I know is understandable with the additional power.  Even when stock the ed30 mpg wasn’t great and I was only getting 27mpg on a 100mile run doing about 70 – 80mph. Once mapped it was a little better but I still struggle to get 29-30 mpg when driving like a granny.

I think there is something wrong with mine but can’t figure out what or where to start looking. Have had new plugs, oil change etc. Does anyone know if there is something in VCDS you can check to see if its running in FSI mode?

I get 350 miles to a tank on mine nearly eveytime and thats with 50 miles till empty usually being displayed. 380- 400 is possible if i run the tank almost dry, but i never like to run it too empty  :ashamed:

The car is always ran on V-power and is revo stage one with an ITG intake. To get less than 300 miles to a tank you must be giving the car a good thrash rather consistently  :driver:

I will drive the car hard round some good bends, or to get out of a very busy junction etc, but to thrash it on every journey takes commitment  :congrats:

i do a 3 mile journey to work every day then have a long trip every weekend usually doing a whole tank of fuel.
i have had a few issues with timing being out and i used to average between 280 to 290 miles a tank.
my timing has been sorted and the first tank i got 370 , the second 360 and this one about 360 again and thats not hanging around either.

new coils and plugs will make a big difference.
