Edition 30 dsg fuel consumption?
« on: November 07, 2011, 08:16:08 am »
Hi all

I have recently bought an ed30 dsg golf its totally standard with no engine mods,
I filled it up about 10 days ago and she is now empty....i have only done 240 miles
On a full tank i must be honest i think thats crap!

I dont drive it hard, just the odd now and again when overtaking.

Can anyone tell me what they get to a full tank?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Mart

Can you give us a bit more detail about the sort of journeys you do. If you are mainly city driving this is normal. If motorway driving then this is low. I get mid 30's mainly motorway driving

Hi its abit of both really,
i have a short journey to work around 3 miles so im sure that doesnt help, but apart from that the only other journeys i do are about 25-35 each way.

ithought i weould of got around 300 to a tank, was going to remap it but not sure now as that will use even more fuel.

Had my Ed30 3 weeks now and it managed 310 miles on a tank full of Momentum 99, that was one journey of 165 miles and the rest was 2-3 mile journeys.

A 3 mile journey will return rubbish MPG. If I pop to the shops in my car it will do about 10-15MPG

That's shocking mate, you must be driving the tits off it.

Mine is completely standard, I average 35 - 39mpgs but usually see 400miles froma tank before the light comes on. With the temperature drop I'm not expecting to see more than 360ish - I do give it some beans too. I usually (from brim fill) see around 230 - 250 miles from the top of the tank alone. Short journeys, start stop traffic will of course effect this. My daily commute is 21 miles and I average 50mph on A roads.

That's the thing I have been driving it's sensibly almost all the time with the odd blat, it's really odd as the Audi s3 I had was running around 280bhp and that was returning 300 easy to a full tank.

I can't get my head round it, haven't even been using sport, mainly drive or manual

I think it will be pretty normal for these cars if its just very small 2-3 mile journeys.

I get the same driving locally doing small journeys - around 250miles to the tank which i thought was a joke coming from a 450bhp Pulsar GTIR that did the same.
