MK5 Mud Flaps

Just wondering if anyone has these fitted to the car? Do they look well intergrated, or do they stand out by a mile?
Was thinking of getting them as the back of the car is getting destroyed from the terrible weather lately!

I have just fitted a set for exactly the same reason as you. I don't think they look too bad. You do notice them at first but soon learn to ignore them. I wanted to try keep the salt and crap off the body as best I could over winter.

my reason exactly. the back window/ boot is destroyed from all the crap being thrown up.

and the car is black so it really looks awful

I'd say treat yourself and get some. Ive only got the fronts fitted at the min as I ran out of light the other night. Gonna be doing the rears later today. Could always get you a pic or two? BTW they are quite expensive but good quality and a good fit. Should be £72 but got them for £61 just by asking for discount.

Yeah main stealers as I wanted a proper fit. With the discount mine only work out at £30.50 a pair  :wink:

Bearing in mind I am a nobody, not in the automotive trade. Just cheeky enough to ask for discount. I know who to deal with now when I go and he always sorts me out. Got a few bits to order this week for the auto boot pop mod so will be popping down there.

Fitted some to my mk 3 diesel years ago and the muck on the rear got worse , and my mpg went dopwn from 55mpg to 50 !

Any reason why you can't give the car a weekly snowfoam and jetwash? Takes me 30 mins max. I spend longer on the toilet! :grin:

Well im trying but not always easy as I cant park in front of my apartment all the time, and ppl here look at you like ur dieseased for washing your own car by hand!

plus its going to snow soon, and will be below zero for the next 3/4 months! so as im washing the car, its gonna turn into a big (but clean) block of ice!!

  Ive had them on a GTI and 2 TDIs,once fitted you get used to them and are a massive help in keeping the crud off the paintwork

The tailgates on both my mk3 and mk5 seem to collect the worst of the road grime, especially on motorway journeys.  Mudflaps didn't seem to help much on the mk3 - can anyone comment on the mk5?

I got a set from ukcarmats.co.uk. only £20 + postage not long after i got the car . fit well and have kept the crud off. they also do tailored rubber mats for £25
