I am tempted to be honest but regardless of any outcome will always bring the doubted minds ans say they aint calibrated right and so on!!  But I'm based in Thrapston (Northampton). Been up against a couple of MK5 R32's and standard scoobys ( I can only assume they are stardard and not STI's) and scoobys I will pass easily, the R32 not a chance.  If i was going down the R32 route it would be sheerly on the sound track, 4WD and potential of the possiblity of around 270/280bhp without cams and obviously turbo although it does weigh more

If you cant pass an R32 then you most certainly do not have 270hp.  I had no issue keeping up with an R32 with my vRS when i was running stage 1 with 241Hp/270lbft.

Stage 2 with 260hp and its a fair amount quicker than the R32 ibn every scenario but off the line.

true!!  Will need a good map and sports cat, induction kit and decent exhaust system!!  Just the sound track and 4WD which is very slighty swaying me although the GTI is very well balanced unless its wet or damp then traction is dia and bloody dangerous unless you turn it off completly  :scared:

Few people slaying the 270 figure mentioned by the op and mileage issues

I have done 45k in 15 months, 20k of those miles running 240@stage1 and 20k running 280@stage2+, consistently running 280 on 2 different rolling road days, latest results were down at 270 but thats because it is overdue its 10k service and should easy get those 10 ponies back. Also my car has done 105k in total now and not missed a beat reliability wise.

Ed30 would be the realistic way to go and with a WALK kit and Stage1 map you will have a beast, go to Stage2+ and you will have a monster.

If I am running 280bhp and am picking off bigger cars than the R32 then you probably are not running 270 as stated... If you crave power why not just tune up the GTI properly to Stage 2+. Below is my graph on 105k done last week

got good results there mate!!  Think i made a mistake on earlier post, but the golf is eating the current R32!!  Guess I'll have to weight up the pro's and cons of selling my one which I already know is a cracker to buy something which could cost me loads of trouble and the extra to upgrade......
