OEM Pads and discs Discount
« on: November 07, 2011, 02:42:01 pm »
Afternoon folks,

Just a heads up  - TPS have a special deal over the next few days (maybe till the end of Nov) on pads and discs.

I needed front pads replacing on the Ed30 after passing the MoT with an advisory.

Was quoted at the dealers for front pads and discs - £193.76 inc VAT
TPS quoted £114 inc Vat

I hope this is useful to other members.

thanks

Rich.

PS - before anyone asks, im 99% certain Joe public can buy from TPS - you definitely can from the Stockport branch

Yea i saw the flier but only having looked at it quickly thought it said only economy pads and discs?

Does the same apply to all brake parts?

not sure which economy pads and discs it is referring to but as far as im aware, for the GTI /ED30, theres only one part listed on ETKA, there's no premium or economy versions.

Could anyone with access to ETKA confirm this?

Thanks

Rich

etka only lists one part number but the flier from TPS has economy parts with a different prefix.  i asked at vw on friday last week and they said, they have just started some economy components but only on some cars which escape me now.

Dave,

You post the part numbers for the front discs and pads. If i have time, i'll give TPS a call and see if they are the same..

Thanks
Rich

VW have just started the "economy" range

Economy has been around for a while tho, started on exhausts at first and moved to wipers

Just spoke to TPS - the prices quoted for the GTI/Edition 30 are definitely NOT the economy pads and discs. They are for the proper OEM spec replacements.  :happy2:

when you call, be sure to mention the special offer they are currently running.

Just had the same price quoted at TPS in Derby - £117 inc vat for pair of front discs and pads for a GTI.  Was also told that the current promotion expires on the 11th November so need to decide quickly if I'm going to take them up on what is a good price for genuine parts.

Done!  Picked them up last night and can confirm they are standard quality Geomet coated discs and standard pads.  Very pleased and looking froward to getting out the tools!
