They've got one at VW Huddersfield. It's sexual.

Crazily, I never even thought about that. The R does get my attention, and if I was spending £35K money, then I would have the R with a basic spec and spend £3k on retrofits/mods, and still got a better car for less £ than the ED35. :happy2:

Bringing up an old thread here...

Saw one today in the our VW dealership in Bradford. Its a black 5 door DSG with the optional extra black alloys ()

Its already sold before someone wants to get their hands on it, £31k. It didn't have the same impact on me as when I first spotted an Edition 30 which I had to have. Dont get me wrong it is a nice car but not 'special' enough in my eyes, really like the MK6 and the rear lights and DRL's do look the part.

The optional extra wheels are gash in my opinion.

There is a white 5dr Edition 35 with upgrade 19" alloys at Haylesden VW in Barnsley, the car does look nice, however not nice enough for the price tag.

Do like the headlights though  :signLOL:

I just don't get this word "special" in the context of a Golf. Has any Golf been truly special? What was special about the Edition 30? New wheels and a bit of colour-coding?

Well this ED35 is a let down. Was seriously thinking of getting one late this year early next if there were any left then having been very impressed with my ED30 . will have to be an R then , don't like 4wd tho.

Rallye, yes please  I agree on the ed 30 thing, but owning a car like an ed 30 is special to lots of people, especially these days ( coming from diesel owner :signLOL:) if your into golfs, then the ed30 is up there with the mk1, mk2 IMO

Yes.  as said the Rallye, Edition one, G60 LTD, Mk1 oettinger 16s, to name a few.  And an ordinary Golf is still an aspirational car to many people.

I should have said modern Golf. And I mean as an object, not as an ownership proposal. I don't think any modern Golf could be described as special.

I love the Edition 35, and I love my GTI, but they're just very nice cars. IMO of course.
