Remapped to stage2 but BHP only increased slightly?
« on: December 10, 2011, 07:23:22 pm »
I just got back from AMD tecknik in Essex where i got my decat done and went for a stage 2, but at the end when they gave me the graph of the dyno run it came back as 265 BHP and 301 torque,

2 months ago when i had stage 1 done it hit 260 BHP and 300 torque and i was expecting more certainly not a drop!
The torque has literally stayed the same
I asked them about it they said not to worry about the figures as it needs to be "adapted",

Are they talking right or is this misleading because to me it didnt sound right, Although they did say to put better fuel in as i had unleaded 95 at the time, Is the figures
just about right for a stage 2 or should it be more, The mods currently are

Evoms intake, Full blueflame turboback exhaust including decat and downpipe, BSH PCV revamp, Diverter D

think of it this way, stage one you got 240bhp, stage 2 your now on 260  :santa:

The reason? Its a rolling road lottery!

Did you get the car dyno'd on the same dyno both times? You can definitely see some big differences between dyno's .

Id say their rollers are generous for stage 1, they didnt plan on you coming back wanting more power

LoL I doubt they would resort to stealing, but you never know! People do mad things on the conquest of power

I'd ask for it back if I were you. See what they say.

This is just my opinion but AMD Really don't appeal to me

This thread has just made my mind up fully about ever using them  :popcornsoda:

My girlfriend has a polo gti and she's on a forum and they have mapped and polo gti....given really high figures and again said "it needs to adapt to the changes will take a few weeks"

Now again with another friend who has a cupra it under achieved the results they said obviously he was gutted
But insted of saying "I think there may be an problem somewhere else on the car" they pulled the "the ecu will need to adapt"
He would have been happy to have the problem investigated but by them saying "it will need to adapt" put him off completely

And now this thread saying "it will need to adapt" again has put me off completely

Now I'm no ecu mechanic but the amount of tuners who I have spoken 90% of them have said "no just drive it as your normally do and it's fine it won't need to adapt"

This is just my opninon and like I said I'm no tech but AMD just don't appeal to me from all of this  :popcornsoda:

What fuel pump do you have? Could be a misfire, any warning lights?

I'm no expert but I expect the fuel pump will be the issue. My understanding is that upgrading it is recommended for stage 2, although I was told it would definitely need doing.
