Where can I buy a plunger for the high pressure fuel pump?

The mechanic is saying that I might need a fuel pump and also the plunger which fits over the spring bit.

So from what you chaps are saying the bit he's calling a plunger is in fact the cam follower?

He's a vag master technician so would have thought he'd know what a cam follower is?
