Cruise control stalk mk5/mk6

Hi guys

Need your advice before i leave feedback on the stalk i bought off ebay. It was just listed being for golf, seat etc, so asked what car it came from and told 08 plate Golf (there was no sticky label with the part number on it - just residue where it was), so thought happy days it should work. Well it arrived today, and i cant work out if it is actually a mk6 instead. the date dial stamps on it seem to point to 12 09 so i am thinking that it is a mk6 stalk.

the only other marking on it are VW AG, and PA6GF30.

Now it looks like the correct stalk, and based on this thread (pg 3) does it matter to be fitted to a mk5? - and before you ask may end up getting Eddie or someone to fit it as mine is a 55 plate (Nov reg but think may be sep build) so not sure if the wire is there or not.

I have a newer type of stalk on my 55 reg - the cruise has on/off/cancel, whereas my original was only on/off.

The mk6 stalk is the only one they do now, I think they changed them on late 08 cars...so sounds like its fine mate

It does indeed have the on/off/cancel. Pic below - not brilliant as took it from the ebay ad.

There are 3 types

the one in the pic has the newer style graphics on it and I have seen it on stalks ending F & G
the original one ending A didn't have the speedo symbol on it

so seems like a bit of a result then :)

On a side note, managed to get myself an absolute bargain on an RCD 510 (well we will see when it arrives in the next day or two) from a mk6 (3C8 035 195 G) so after reading comments about needing a new canbus and coding, it would seem that i may well need to be utilising of your services Eddie 

prob in the new year though i imagine. Will PM about it when have more info.

I fitted that stalk to a 05 plate recently. needed to put in a wire from the steering control module to an electrical box behind the wiper motor. Its a relatively painless job.
