Fog/Reverse Light
« on: November 17, 2011, 08:05:18 pm »
Could anyone tell me if the reverse or rear fog light is part/monitored by the "light out/canbus" system?

cheers

Yeah, if defective you'll get a light out warning.

It does,
but doesn't come on with ignition,
as its a supplementary switch function it only shows as a warning on the dash when you pull the dial out to select the fog-light.

I discovered that if you snap two little bits of metal inside the bulb holder, it short circuits the warning system and it doesn't show as a buld problem.
(found this while inspecting bulb holder, appears the car garage had done this to hide a wiring prob perhaps?! great!)

It's not checking the switch, it's checking the bulb hence you didn't get a warning.

forget this, I was talking arse as usual!
I bought a new bulb holder from vw - £3.55, and its all fixed!
The two bits of metal I "thought" had been tampered with were exactly the same on the B/N one.....Doh!
