Alloy help - URGENT!
« on: April 11, 2009, 06:00:31 pm »
Managed to remove the front offside alloy without problems but the rear one buggered up:

^^^How do I take that disc off so I can refit the alloy?

Nevermind I got it fitted but now that same side sits too high. I can fit my whole fist in the gap between the wheel and the bottom edge of the upper arch.

I couldn't do this before.

What have I f*cked up?

Take it for a drive and let the spring settle again.

i agree with 182_blue.... there's no centre spigots or anything on the std monza's so it just goes straight on against the brake disc.

^^^ I didn't have that flat disc thing on the end of the hub when I did the driver's front wheel, which is why I was concerned when I couldn't fit the alloy. Turned out the hub was lower.

Don't know if it was because the jack was leaking and slowly lowering the car or whether the suspension caused it.

Take it for a drive and let the spring settle again.

I am actually afraid to do so. I sat in the back and moved up and down and it didn't have any effect.

Dammit why does everything I do have to be more complicated than it is for anyone else?!?!?!  :fighting:

Yeah I released the handbrake and the clutch and let the edge slightly [very slight gradient] but still flipping high. It's like a 4x4 at the back!  :scared:

Yup - nothing else. I don't have the knowledge or experience (or courage) to try anything else.

Going out. If I'm not back in fifteen minutes, assume the worse.

I wouldn't worry mate, just give the car a bit of time to settle, same happened to me when i re-fitted mine.

Just take it out for a good blast and she'll be right as rain  :happy2:

Well I'm back. I survived.

Moved the car about a foot and I could feel the back end settle. Then took the car out for a spin to make sure the bolts had been correctly tightened with the torque wrench.

Enough adrenaline, fear and hassle for one day. What time does the sun rise these days?
