Doesn't the little switch on top of the wiper stalk change the level of sensitiveness? The more to the left it is means the wipes are less sensitive, That's what i've noticed anyway! or maybe it just makes them come on at longer time intervals!  :scared:

I had that sort of thing on my last Golf after I had the windscreen replaced. Something to do with a sensor I believe ?

The sensor works by detecting the amount of refracted light coming in (which is related to the amount of rain sat on the sensor). If your wipers are goosed they don't clear the sensor properly, and it thinks there's more rain than there is. Could just be that

Argh its had a new windscreen by previous owner its a family member so i know the history it was just a bad stone chip which cracked.

Why would that effect it though?

May change my wipers.

Some non-genuine screen cause this
The thickness of the glass where the sensor is can be ever so slightly different .... Causing it to go wappy from time to time

Don't judge me by your ability !
