Moving the arch liner

I want to remove the crud that's supposed to build up behind the arch liner. On the ED30, the side sill is screwed in over the liner. If I remove this screw, I still can't bend the arch liner out from behind the sill.

Do I need to remove the screw from the top of the arch liner? Am trying to do this without having to take the wheel off.

Small hands needed but I did mine OK. 3 yes = CRUD

Didnt know ED30 was different :surprised: All I had to do was remove the 6/8 screws holding the liner in place
 and slide it forwards.
revealing the recess which was full of hard packed crud. Hosepipe and paintbrush soon got rid of this

I think you will have to take the wheel off Stealth in order to get to all the screws!

At least you can give it a good clean with the wheel off  :happy2:

....and yes, I had a fair bit of the crud packed in there near the sill.

Need the wheel off to get to all the screws on the arch liner, I've only done the drivers side when I done the dv still got to do the passenger side. Don't take long and will probably be easier without the wheel in the way

Okay cool. Was hoping to get away without taking the wheel off. Will have a bash next weekend.

I removed the wheels to get to all the screws, removed the liner, cleaned the compacted mud/ crap then painted the inside of the lip with smootrite to help stop the rust problem.
The mk4s had a similar problem but there's were due to a foam pad which stopped the plastic arch rubbing on the panel, this held moisture and it was recommended to trim a couple of inches off where it sat into the inner lip. When i removed the liner i found my mk5 had the same foam so trimmed this, along with the hammerite i'm hoping i wont have the rust problem?
