If you have a DSG, bear in mind that you will get torque reduction requests from the gearbox. This manifests as in-gear peak torque lopping, and post change torque limiting.
I have not driven / been a passenger in any other DSG equipped remapped cars (engine only) to know if a similar sensation can be felt with other engine remaps.
I have Shark stage 1 remap on my DSG GTI and it is fine, But then again i do all my (spirited ) driving around town and rarely give it the beans, When would i notice this torque restriction?
And do you recommend a DSG remap?
If you were to manually select 3rd at say 2500rpm and fully depress the throttle the engine will hit a peak torque value (in the region of 280lb/ft) and goal seek around this value (the ignition is retarded to reign the engine in slightly) until the boost target drops and torque with it.
If you change gear either manually or automatically at a moderate to high load, say 2nd to 3rd, then the torque will be held back for a spit second post change.
Some people pick up on it, some don't. It's not a problem per se.
I logged mine on VCDS to check what was going on.
Apparently it can be solved with a DSG remap, but for me it's not enough of a bother to be worth the cost (especially as it's an on-site only remap, and I'm not local).
There's a thread on the topic which I'll try to find.....
