P0299 Fault code?
« on: November 20, 2011, 07:04:16 pm »
Im just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to me before I go to a final VW diagnostic specialist on Wednesday.

Since my car had a stage 1 map it has never really ran properly, feels like its gutless. Iv had the car plugged in and p0299 was the code that appeared ( failure to reach circuit boost....or along the lines of that )

Iv asked about this and went to a few garages and iv changed everything that people thought could be related to this. Changed my DV to the piston type, got a new n75 valve, had my MAF checked, changed my oil and got new plugs, and the code is still present?

I then plumbed in a boost gauge and the strange thing was that the car is making 16psi and its making it very quickly with no signs of leakage, spiking etc... But it really doesnt feel like there is any there at all.

Has anyone had a scenario like this before?

Cheers  :happy2: Stu.

If everything else has been investigated, the turbo may have cracks around the wastegate leaking boost.

It appears to happen on K03 and not K04. Mine was intermittent P0299, as the casting heated this would bring the fault as the cracks expanded.

Run the car on a dyno and inspect the data.
