When I first got my Leon I was very careful and took me a while to start to test its limits.

Then the chassis was totally changed with the coillies, arbs, walk and now lighter brakes and bump steer kit

I'm no racing driver but the chassis is probably more capable than my ability.  I'm quite happy with it.

It will hopefully become more apparent when I'm able to frequent uk track days where I think the major +/- points are and I can fine tune it accordingly  :happy2:

I hope you find rubber tyres that perform to your liking, be a shame to get rid of the car :(

My issue was the understeer in good conditions especially summer!! That's doesn't bode well for winter! And I don't drive like a boy racer either! I'd love to be able to afford a winter set but at the moment that's not possible. How do you find the handling on the Cupra?
how old are the ps3 tyres and how long were they in storage before you bought them, over a long period time the compound of any tyre goes hard they wil were wel but no grip, had this on bridgestone tyres on my old skyline, the tyre fitter had a hard job getting them off the rims and it was like driving on ice in the bends with them on the car, personaly find the ps3 A1

Good question - I've had them since about March - all 4 purchased at the same time. They were ordered in by the tyre dealer i used but i've no idea how long they were in storage for beforehand. They're 225 40 18 so its a popular size so i shouldnt imagine they'd be on the shelf for a long time but who knows...

I've had just about every mainstream 'performance' tyre on the ED30 in the last 50K miles including the GY F1 Assy and the PS3 and whilst imo there are subtle differences between the 2 (F1 having marginally better straightline grip and a comfier ride, the PS3 giving better turn in feel and better in the wet) the differences are so small from a performance point of view imo that most 'regular' drivers would struggle to split the 2..

I prefer the PS3 as they wear MUCH better and the stiffer sidewall gives a better turn in feel and doesnt suffer from the sidewall 'eggs' that the F1s did, the F1 wins on price and initial pull away grip, i'd be happy to run either on the car again  :happy2:

As for your experience with the PS3s, have you had any other tyres on the car in your ownership? The GTi is set up 'safely' like all modern FWD cars with a tendency to understeer when approaching the limit, stops joe public backing them through hedges

FWIW this year alone my PS3s have done umpteen laps of the TT mountain course, 5 1/4 mile runs, 2 track days at Oulton and 1 at Cadwell, 8 laps of the 'Ring and the same on the F1 track and have been spot on  :happy2:

Hi,

I had the Bridgestone RE050A's on the car when i first had it. I can understand the understeer on the limit but not the way i've driven the car - i wouldn't dare push it as it feels unprecdictable.

Out of interest what tyre pressure were you running the PS3's at? Are you still on them at the moment and what handling mods do you have on your car?

Yeah still on them at the moment although i have swapped to my winter tyres this weekend, run them at 37PSi all round  :happy2:

Mods are H&R front and rear ARBs, WALK, VWR springs and custom geo setup
