Sidelight help
« on: December 01, 2011, 09:02:46 pm »
Hiya, need some help, changed my candlestick sidelights for LED ones bright white.

But when i turn them on they come on for 10 secs then goes off. I know about the polarity and they just dont work when inserted the other way. Ive only tried one at a time.

Any help would be great, cheers

They go off due to the low voltage they use.  the ecu thinks that the bulb has gone and cuts the power to them.

That's why they are on at first and then cut off after a few seconds.  You can get Leds with a canbus built in so that they stay on.

you need something like these for it to work:

I've given up and gone back to blue bulbs. Constant light out errors even though they were can friendly

I'd get a refund then mate - they're advertised as being for a Golf mk5 & dont work!

Yeah your not supposed to have blue lights - but those ones arent blue, think its just the picture, they're supposed to be a xenon like colour.

If you search for "501 canbus led" it brings up thausands on ebay.  And various colour temprements

Returned for replacement (UK company) so just waiting....
ps I managed to drop one of the 501s into the headlight. Sorted with a flexi tool and doudle sided
 tape inside two mins

If it’s any help I put these in mine well over a year ago and not had any problems or bulb out warnings what so ever. Think it may be down to you get what you pay for?

they look exactly the same as mine lol, my mate has just fitted them into his astra and they work no problem.

So if they say error free, then thats what they do i guess ?

whats the difference between mine and the two other ones advertised on this post ?
