Hi, been off line for a while. Looking back at some of the posts on this thread, for info I live just outside Ipswich and have bumped into you Illyun at the Shell garage on a few months ago when you were in your MkII 16v. I also saw your immaculate MkI and R32 at the dealers at the MkVI launch in Jan.

Cheers,
Edi30

I have been down to the local dealers today and not only had a look at the MK6 GTI but also had a drive!  :driver:  What can I say its a GTI, very similar to the MKV Edition 30 to drive in terms of handling and the way it feels through the steering. I had a short drive and as it was brand new (only 10 miles the clock) so I did not push it at all. The engine was very tight as you would expect and as a result felt sluggish in comparison to my 13,000 mile ED30. The ride was a little better (this one had the adaptive chassis control) it was also a little quieter and from the inside and felt a bit more up market. There is nothing radical about is, just improvements here and there. I think it is a very desirable car and should sell well. Would I have one..............of course I would  :happy2:

I thought there was an embargo that VW have set not allowing the car to be driven until the 19th?

Nice to see they are still doing Tornado Pink!

Greenhouse, Phil M,

Didn't know there was an embargo in place, dealer did not say anything?! I only went down to have a look and got offered a drive. I thought you guy's would be excited by this news but I get the impression that you seam put out by the fact that someone has driven it before the launch date?! Wish I had kept quiet as I don't want to get the dealer in trouble after their kind offer.
