Advice on dp fitting

A couple of months ago I acquired a Milltek downpipe for my vRS, well today it is finally getting fitted, however the remap will not happen until early in the new year.  The question is, I have been told that the turbo may over boost as a result of the fitting, also I may or may not get a CEL with the Milltek.  I know from a previous post that some members fitted an uprated downpipe and ran the stock map for extended periods.  I really just want conformation that leaving it at stage 1 for a couple of months will not be detrimental to the engine?  If there could be issues, I will hold off getting it fitted until I'm ready for the map.

Hmmm, good question Lee. I'd like to knwo this too. I'm looking at freeing up the exhaust on my Golf, ideally doing away with the cat and silencers, possible straight pipe from turbo back.  :surprised: I'm running a stage 1 map but am in the same boat as you, would prob be a month or so til I can get the map tweaked.

What other mods are you planning to fit to achieve stage 2? Mines is a diesel so prob not the same as your's, does the vRS doenpipe have a lambda or o2 sensor plugged into it?

Milltek DP normaly is 200Cel which should leave the CEL light off.

You may get a cel, I did with decat occasionally on stage 1 but you shouldn't have an overboost issue and the car will run fine with the cel on. I never noticed much difference after fitting the Downpipe on stage 1 tbh but it did spool up a little earlier.

I already have an Evoms intake which went on prior to stage 1, all that's really needed for stage 2 on the K03 Tfsi is a hi-flow downpipe with either sport or decat, obviously on a petrol the later is an MOT failure.  If I'm honest I thought about the next stage on swmbo's Golf, but tbh unless you are talking hybrid turbo I don't think changing the exhaust will give you much more power.  My dp has O2 sensors post and pre cat mate, it's the one after the cat that causes a CEL due to the increased flow of exhaust gases.  Apparently the yanks fit a angle bolt to move the sensor out of the flow which stops the fault.

I ran with stage 2+ hardware and standard map for ages, no issues.

I have heard that Ian, but Ben was running a 2.75" Milltek on his vRS and it threw up a CEL, I know the Pipewerx definitely does which is also 200 cell, but is a 3" bore.

I had a Milltek turboback on my stock tdi with no issues.. A different matter on the petrol tho I think

Been out for a spin earlier and tbh if I hadn't seen it fitted for myself, I would say the dp hasn't been changed.  I'm not expecting miracles from the existing map, but I was hoping for a little difference in performance and noise, perhaps the ECU needs to adapt?   :sad1:

What about once the stage 2 sortware is on?
