My gti is from southern Ireland how do you know if I had a thatcham alarm where do I check for insurance purposes

give your local vw dealer a call and see if they can help, thats where i would try 1st, they should be able to point you in the right direction if they havent got the info you want readily available

IMO if you don't have ultrasonic sensors in the car then it didn't come with a factory alarm.

if you have a scan of the car look at address 46 and see if it gives the part numbers of the alarm horn, interior monitoring and inclination sensor. If they are not there then no alarm

been in contact with vw no factory alarm  :sad1: so now i need to fit alarm it has an imobilizer
but it needs to be cat 2 so that i can get an alarm upgrade to obtain cat 1 status  or other option is full
alarm but with extra fob  witch i dont realy want  im awaiting vw to get back telling me about imobilizer to go from there
 olso i was sold the car stating that it was full uk speck from vw so do i have a case to get them to fit alarm it was a year and a half ago so i wont hald my breath  i just cant find the old add    arnald clark

I would approach your vw dealer pointing out this discrepency and ask them to rectify it in the first instance.
