swapping rear fog light and reverse light on MKV
« on: November 08, 2011, 11:19:42 am »
Hey, I was wondering if someone could help me with the following. I have a UK registered car and have moved to Finland. But for me to register the car here in Finland, I have to swap my rear foglight and reverse light. I have found many threads showing how to do this, but none of them state anything about re-wiring? Does anybody know if I would have to rewire my lights and of course, how would I go about doing that?

Many thanks for your help.

Best Regards,
ravmanm

I would simply extend each connector and run the right (UK fog light connector) on to the left (now Finnish fog light) and the same for the left one to the right side for the reversing light.
Without traction power is nothing!

I have done this to move and live in germany. i bought the german fog and reverse. on my leon they are the inner part of the lamp that goes on the tailgate. i snipped the live wire to the bulb on each side and extended them across to the opposite sides. :) mike

Please don't butcher your car by doing the above. If you want to swap the power feeds to the reverse and fog lamps the correct way is to to swap the control wires under the dash. The procedure is posted here http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2290044 in the first thread click on "here" and download the pdf it takes a bit of contortion to do as its under the steeing wheel but its worth doing it properly.

Useful info that  :happy2:

I was under pressure to have my car to german regulations in short space of time so had less time to find a method, however 4years later it has worked faultlessly
