32GB SD Card for RNS510....Which Card???
« on: November 29, 2011, 10:30:13 am »
I recently upgraded my RNS510 B version to the D version and as a result it now supports SDHC cards up to 32GB  :pomppomp: :pomppomp: :pomppomp:
(which is a good job really, since the update reduced my 20GB Hard drive to 13.8GB)  :scared:

Anyway I thought since my music had all been wiped (It needed sorting anyway) now would be a good time to buy a 32GB card and keep all my music on there.

Is this what you guy's are doing?

Is it a good idea?

Ive been searching the net, and I can't believe how cheap 32GB cards are nowadays

On Ebay you can get a class 10 32GB card for £17.50 delivered. Trouble is lots of em are unbranded, and I'm sure there could be fakes out there or cards that don't perform as well as advertised.

Anyone got any advice? or links to cheap cards that you know are good quality?

Now i am definitely not a memory card expert but i have cheap SD cards and expensive ones and in the RNS there just is no difference IMO, i guess the only thing is speed, i.e when you transfer large amounts of music onto the card but nothing that would bother me.

Thanks Shaun  :happy2: I suppose its more important for video cameras etc to have faster speeds.

Just seen another cheap card, class10 again from a place called MyMemory. Any heard of this company?

Its £24 delivered   and here is what they say about this card...

"MyMemory SDHC Class 10 cards are the fastest Secure Digital High Capacity memory cards in our range. High definition videos and large megapixel photos can be saved to the Class 10 memory card at rapid speed, with no lag or dropped frames"

Here is the link...

I bought a cheap one £17.50 delivered and it doesnt even work! Tried it in 2 different laptops and a camera and it doesnt format! Iv sent it back to the seller (was off ebay) think the company name was "luckydipp" or something, I would spend a little extra to make sure its a decent one!

My RNS-510 is version B and supports 32GB SDHC  :chicken:

Pretty much. Was never bothered with transferring to the HDD. Too much hassle for me.

Anyone got any advice? or links to cheap cards that you know are good quality?
Cheap and good quality aren't normally found together. I have a verbatim 32gb sdhc think it's class 6 and that's been fine.

i found sandisk 32GB for £22 delivered on play.com

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/12103626/Sandisk-32GB-SDHC-SD-Memory-Card/Product.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=sdhc&urlrefer=search

works out cheaper than the plays own branded one - Sandisk are a pretty decent brand

Hope this helps

Thanks Rich, thats a great price too  :happy2:

Is that a better one than the Play.com's own brand one? The SanDisk is class4 and Play's Premium one is class10.  :popcorn soda:

I would rather buy the class4 Sandisk than a class 10 non-branded after all you don't need the extra speed for the RNS.

I'll hold my hands up and admit im not sure which classes are better - is class 1 or 10 the best??

Either way, the play.com prices for the Sandisk cards seem to be the best deals.

Don't forget to use QUidco as well  :happy2:

the price on hotukdeals is wrong  - wehn you click the link, the price is £20 odd again..

Class 10 is better - faster transfer rate. Class 4-6 is probably fast enough for the RNS 510.
