Focus RS MP350 v Stage 3 Mk5
« on: November 29, 2011, 05:08:25 pm »

I stupidly test drove a Focus RS Mountune MP350 yesterday, and it was absolutely awesome.

Luckily the Mrs hated the look of it, but how do I now get similar performance out of my MK5 GTi. Will Stage 3 or 2plus do it?

Why 4x4? RS just has a diff. Ko4 golf would probably be quicker if accompanied by right mods and map.

My mate has just bought a RS, stunning cars and sound the boll*cks!

Nah both old and new Focus RS#s are fitted with diff's. New one has the added revo knuckle technology just to reduce torque steer i believe.

Big failure on Ford's part i think, would have loved the new RS to have been 4x4, would have made it the complete package.

FWD Rich, but has the fancy 'RevoKnuckle' front suspension to tame the torque steer, either that or it lights the CEL light and causes a misfire...

I had a mk1 focus and it was a absolute bitch to keep in a line when getting a wobble on.... Seen one stickered up yesterday saying 370 ... So RR debate goes on with the fast ford boys as well  :popcornsoda:

Do you find the golf boring in comparison? I do, i had mk1 RS and had hybrid set up. Was so much fun but was always that "am i going to come back alive" feel about it lol. Golf is just too good a car you know your safe.

I just sold my 350bhp mk1 rs few months back.what a car.the acceleration was crazy from 2nd through 4th gear.would love the new one as even for front wheel drive it handles great and 400+horses is easily acheiveable.too much cash tho for some little scrote to run a key down it.

I haven't read one review that has suggested that the RS would be better with four driven wheels - quite the opposite in fact. You've got to remember that it isn't a safe and predictable Audi. I think the added weight of four wheel drive would have harmed its agility and created quite a numb driving experience.
