Ive got a mk2 rs and they are awesome as a package i reccon a stage 2 + eddy would take an mp350 but for a grand more you are looking at 400 bhp and those are proper quick, quickest thing ive ever been in. I think from standard £3600 gets you about 420bhp and 500lbft of torque feckin monsters, tbh i loved my mk5 gti and edition 30 and i cant think of anything else id rather have for under 15k, the mk2 rs might be a ford but it doesnt feel like a ford, i still cant get over the grip you get from them considdering they are fwd, you really need to wrestle them though !

drive a golf with the power and a diff then compare  the diff makes a massive thing for us fwd guys and if you don't have one then your going to struggle with grip

Mods yes but way too many to stick in this little box

This was a run I did against a JWR400 RS at Pod when I fluffed my start John..

I'm in the right lane..   He did run a better terminal later IIRC (109).

Quickest Mk2 I know of at Pod ran a 12.8 @ 114-115mph. But that had 450+, LC, 888's the full works. Awesome bit of kit it was, but not as quick as I would of thought for the power..
To be fair though, this isn't just there forte. They (as mentioned) are an awesome package. You will need a DSG Stage 2+ car to stick with on 400+ RS..

380+ RS vs Stage 2+ manual Eddie (1:25 into this video)..

At a recent mk2 rs meet i was at at sitech, there was a guy with a js 400 who done 10 runs at crail and 6 of them were 13 dead, i think he is the holder of the fastest fwd car there, that was with road tyres there is another guy with the 400 pack and sitech plenum that runs 12.9, pretty quick like !

I almost bought an Rs in green mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i drove it and gave it a good drive on roads i know well, after coming from a 172cup it felt a bit tame tbh. I then drove my brothers mk5 gti with 300 bhp and it felt alive it was awsome, by the time i bought it its back down to stage 1 but i decided not to stretch myslef as much due to a new house purchase.  I do absolutley love the RS though but as standard it needs more power for me, if i had 20k for a car i would definatly have one i love them

This MP350 was unbelievable Rob. I'm VW though, through and through, so I'm going to try and get mine as close to this leve lof performance as possible. Was your brother's on Stage 2 plus before you bought it?

Steve Jr's car is a hybrid K04 with water/meth and a REVO extreme map on it - 430+bhp and 400+lbft with a DSG gearbox and ATB LSD - it did a 12.7 at Inters on Sunday this year. I've been in it and let's just say a FWD Focus RS in any tune would get hammered on a 1/4 mile and I reckon on a 30-130 it would do a 10 second run

MK2 RS is a beast, 300hp from stock with an LSD & fancy suspension.... Lovely Recaro seats.... But it's still a ford. Don't get me wrong it's a lovely car and prob a savage hatch but if given the choice I'd take a stage 2 ED30 with quaife :happy2:
