Fair enough Pagey, the Marauder looks pretty hot!

Black does camouflage the Skoda Hitler-tash though!

The interior is a nicer place. The dashboard has nicer lines and a better driving position than a Golf. When i bought my vRS i could have had a GTI if i wanted but the GTI was too common around me and i needed the boot space.

Blimey, it's like briskoda in here

Suprised that there hasn't been more responses from GTI owners.

When I purchased my GTI in the summer, coming from a modified mk1 Fabia vRS SE, I originally looked at and test drove a few F/L Octy vRS' and would quite possibly have never ended up at a VW showroom had a salesman not been rude and spoken down to my wife  :surprised:

Eventually went to VW and am happy with my choice - IMO it is the nicer looking car and I prefer the interior, but both will serve you very well  :drinking:

I've had a TFSI vRS, an Ed30, an .:R32 and a TSI vRS. Given your current situation the Octy is a no-brainer. Which is better?

They all are.  :chicken:

test drive both vrs and gti but go for gti.... I remember my father had skoda L120 couple of years back, made in Czech and no comparison to VW whatsoever in those years totally different era there.... younger crowd don't remember those but skoda was nowhere near brand it's now thanks to volkswagen... that's why even if those cars would be comparable in materials and performance the brand awareness and legacy is totally different, hence the difference in price for both brands.... some people might not care for that but there is reason why the top brands for genuinely same cars would be priced differently thanks to brand history, legacy and other intangible values....

Red 2008 GTI, H&R ARB, b12 suspension, walk, milltek non-res full exhaust, forge IC, tarox 10 pot big brake kit, RS4 valve, Forge SSK, Autotech HPFP, Xenons, K04 Turbo, Quaife LSD, South Bend stage 3 Daily with SMF clutch, XB and UB Unibraces

It depends on which S3 you had?

I've only ever driven VW golfs.

My 1st car was a 1984 MK1 GTi
My 2nd car was a 1987 Mk2 GTi 16v
My 3rd car was a 2000 Mk4 GTi
My 4th car was a 2006 MK5 GTi (manual)
My 5th car is a 2010 Audi S3 DSG

If I have the choice and money, I will never go back to a VW after driving this car, it will be S3's all the way  :jumping:
2010 3dr phantom black S-Tronic S3 - BCS TBE with 3½" DP - LOBA LO4xx turbo - LOBA HPFP - Revo CAI - H&R 25mm lowering springs - Forge 11mm spacers - RS4 fuel Pressure valve - THS intercooler - H&R front and rear ARB's - AEM water methanol injection

Me too, I'm surprised more Mk5 GTi owners have not stood up for the best all-round car of the last decade! The one which returned the GTi name back to where it belonged; As a brilliant, useable and practical driver's tool. After the mediocrity of the Mk3 and Mk4, It really was a huge relief to a lot of us that VW returned to form. This is Mk5golfGTi.co.uk, after all!

I am thrilled with mine, it puts a smile on my face every time I look at it, drive it, or think about driving it! I'd never buy a Skoda, Seat, or Audi equivalent. The advert sums it all up for me: "And if you listen carefully, it sounds just like a Golf".........
