Help gear knob change!!!

Hi all does anyone have a how to change the gear knob?
ive just bought one from e-bay and would like to find out how to change it

Easy enough,  pull the leather surround up over the ball of the gearstick and you will see a round clip abit like a jubilee clip take that off and the gear knob will lift right off,  you just need to put your new one on and replace the clip then push the leather surround back in.

Do you have a part number and price for the GTI gear knob at all please?

Mines had a hard time with all my messing around with the RNS.

...........i changed mine the other week & didn't need to remove the clip,just pulled the gear knob & it came straight off.Worth trying first.

Same here Gene, those clips are ppretty strong, and take ages to unclip, so I just puleed and twisted it, and it came off no problem.

Pete its probably cheaper to get one on ebay has the dealer want like £130 for the gear knob.

I got an unmarked one off ebay a while back for about £30 I think.

Have you been fighting a bear inside your car pete?

lol...£30 is more like it. It's not that bad, but I want it to look fresh.

  It looked brand new. Just had a quick look for you but couldnt see any on there atm.

Indeed, I'll keep an eye out now. It's not top of the list but I will invest in one at some point when I've got some spare cash.
