Edition 30. Steel Grey and DSG. *Updated*
« on: November 30, 2011, 09:38:27 pm »
Yo yo.

Just thought i'd start this thread to keep up to date with any progress on my Edition 30.

Some of you may of seen my other thread about it here.... http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,38169.0.html

I've only had it a week and i'm properly chuffed with the car, everytime i drive it, it puts a MASSIVE smile on my face, such a capable car! The gearbox just makes it to IMO, in D its proper chilled and sociable, can just burble around slow all day, then when you wanna give it some beef, it works so well with silly quick changes!

The spec...

Steel Grey 3 door.
DSG.
Xenons.
Cruise.
Ipod.
Parking Sensors.
Luxury Pack. (Folding mirrors, puddle lights etc)
Sunroof.

Gave it a good clean at the weekend. Clayed, machine polish, polish and wax'd then had a mooch over to Oulton Park to have a gander at a track day. My mate got a few pics...

Plans...

Not alot until after christmas time tbh, i'm ordering a BSH PCV fix kit tomorrow as i know these are prone to failing! I'll have the wheels off and get them painted sometime over the winter too. I also wanna sort out a multifunction wheel and highline dash, apparently the DSG wheels just need the buttons and everything else is there? Something i wanna look at!

After christmas i'll be collecting bits for Revo Stage 2+

What you think guys? Not a proper spec like some of the cars on here but its a properly clean base to work from so hopefully with some more time and money it will make a good'un!  :notworthy:

Cheers boys. Yeah lots of enthusiasm and ideas just not enough money at the mo after buying it! Lol.

I love it standard anyway at the mo too, I've got a Bora TDI as my everyday car so this feels like a rocket ship whenever I drive it... Haha.

A couple of updates, nothing major though...

I got some new open fog light grills off a member on here...

These look so much better in the flesh. Excuse the crap iPhone pictures btw...

Also, this arrived. A BSH PCV fix kit and catch can...

Out with the old...

And in with the new...

Very pleased with the kit. Easy to install and looks proper quality. I just need some new silicone hose as the hose i got isnt quite long enough to put it where i want to. My original PCV looked mint too!

Thats all for now.

Great colour and great looking car.

The minor touches so far are all really nice mods  :happy2:
Despite having a Steel Grey GTI, looking at others is still a fresh experience

It's just a permant fix to the ever failing PCV mate. Normally you would just get the plate that bolts onto the rocker cover which basically defeats the PCV. (Its only for emissions anyway i think)

The catch tank is just an add on and catch's any oil, water vapour etc.

So i had it dyno'd today...

I was keen to see what it was kicking out standard before i started playing with it just 'cause i was curious and it would be nice to see what gains i see after i've done bits to it, so i took it a local place by me who specialise in VAG and other general tuning, Vanquish Performance. They use a Dyno Dynamics RR so i know the figures are going to be spot on, the service was also very good too, they're a good bunch of lads!

Anyway, it made 229bhp and 239lb/ft which im pretty chuffed with tbh, thats bang on!

Also got a couple of other things on the go, got some S3 front brakes i'm having refurbed at the minute and i've recently bought and fitted MFSW controls so i just need to go and see Kalu now to have some highline clocks fitted.
