Fuel Economy?

Hi guys,

I have a mk5 GTi 2006 stage 1 and get about 250 miles
out of a full tank of petrol (town driving). I recall getting around
290 miles when I first purchased the car.

I've recently changed the spark plugs to denso's, new lambda sensor
and fitted a BSH PCV revamp kit.

I wonder if it's the PCV fix causing the problem? Or would
you guys say that the car is giving the right mileage?
It appears to drive okay,
with no loss of power.

Probably about right town driving...

Dont get winter tyres it gets even worse

I would say that sounds about right at stage1. What fuel are you using? Run it on 99ron and you should see a gain in power and mpg

evertime I fill up.

I was thinking of removing the BSH PCV revamp kit
to see if it makes a difference but may leave it following
your responses.

The weird thing about it is that a few months back
I went to look at an Edition 30 which was remapped to
something silly like 310BHP and the guy selling it
reckoned he was getting 300 miles on a full tank!

Maybe it's best that I stop comapring my GTi to the Edition 30!

Have you yet tried to remove the BSH PCV fix to
see what the economy was like?

Do you get any back pressure from the exhaust?
For example when switching gears?

250 miles seems about right. My stock GTI gets around 200-210 in & around town ran on 99VPower

Not the most fuel efficient cars TBH, My old EK9 R was better on fuel even at 8.5K+RPM

I had the car serviced today and VW changed
the coil packs under a recall. The car
certainly appears to start better.

However this comes at a cost! They've snapped my
Carbonio intake from one of it's ears trying to get
the engine cover off!!!

Not quite yet fella. I spoke to the service manager earlier on and he
said that he is sure that it was like that before. I explained to him that
I only worked on the car last weekend -change sparkplugs and it was fine.

I told them that it requires a little skill to remove the filter and that it
cannot be yanked out.

He told me that he would talk to the technician and call me back on Monday.
