I think Ford did have an exclusive patent but presume that has expired or they are allowing others to use the tech under license.

At this time of year I can't think of a more genius invention to have on your car but I'm not going to register formal interest in this GB.

Would they fit it too? How much would be reasonable to get it fitted somewhere?

Hi Guys sorry I'm just replying. Havnt got notifications switched on so didnt realise anyone had replied!

Glad you guys are liking the idea, other places I posted up about it havnt really been interested

Anyway to answer a few questions (from what I know at the moment)

As for wiring, it would be wired directly into the 12V battery with a switch in the dash (as someone mentioned, I'm sure we could find a button or get one made to fit in behind the gearstick)

The Passat does have a heated screen available (dont know why they dont do it in the Golf?!) and others as mentioned by members, obviously no longer just Ford! So there will be some bits and pieces from VAG cars to help wire it up with an OEM look (which is what I want too!)

I think it might have to be fittet somewhere else though (as mentioned if we could get somewhere to do a deal then possibly even cheaped but I'll ask the supplier if he knows anywhere or if they can do it) and I'm sure the auto sensor can be worked in somehow (I want to keep mine!)

As for colour tinting, I'm sure they could do some colour alterations to the glass. I will try and get some more details regarding what they have done previously for the MKV (did a batch for the german market)

Cheers for the interest! Keep it coming!  :happy2:

Trying to get more info at the moment. Another supplier possibility is uroglas (http://www.uroglas.com/) who I'm waiting for a price from but says the minimum order is 25  :surprised: but I'll see what price they can come back with :)

I can appreciate that there are no current examples but hopefully if we can get enough people together someone might be willing to supply a demo!  I'll keep getting the info, but please keep showing your interest as I need to show the suppliers that we want it!

Great idea !!

I'd suggest connecting it just to the heated rear view window.
Easiest way without huge compromise and no additional knobs
necessary.
