Very nice, I'm liking the fog grills, I am looking for a set myself.

Thanks lads

Got the fog grills from the dealers, fed up trying to find a set online.  Cost about 70 euro I think.

Re: My Mkv Golf, Reflex Silver 2.0 tdi, finally lowered :)
« Reply #20 on: August 19, 2012, 11:48:56 am »
So I went up to Keith at alloy-wheels.ie in Dublin last Tuesday week to get my H&R cup kit fitted.  I have to say I absolutely love it.  Car is nicely lowered, it's a little stiffer than stock but the handling of the car has been transformed.  I thought the suspension on the mkv gt was a big step up from the mkiv base but this is a big step up again.  It's a brilliant piece of kit.  The more I drive it the more I'm enjoying the car again.  The car is much more composed on the bends especially when you consider the heavy diesel lump up front.  Although its not as low as some guys like, I'm pretty happy with it, very little rubbing unless I drive over a bad speed ramp faster than I should but the wheels are a strong enough offset at et44.  I can remove the screw from the the front wheel arch lining if needed but I don't think it's necessary tbh.

As ever Keith and the lads did a great job.  Keith even dropped me into the shopping centre personally which was above and beyond what i expected.  It's great to see companies doing that little bit extra and it's something I always appreciate.

I'd recommend the cup kit without a doubt.  Tbh it's probably the first thing I should have done.  Between the remap and the cup kit are definately my favourite mods on the car.

Took a few pics today.  They're only iPhone pics so hopefully they look ok

Lovely looking car. Was just reading through and was thinking it just needed lowering now to finish it of and you've done it. Keep up the good work  :happy2:

Stunning Mate

Satin Black Rear Diffuser, Mirrors and Front Splitter next ???

.....Im really jealous that you get to drive round with a white rear plate over in Ireland. Looks 1000x better than our yellow rear plates!
Just keeps the monochrome look going  :notworthy:

Thanks S800BRN, really happy with the cup kit.  It sits pretty well now

Great work Paul  :happy2:
Thanks Kevin, thought I might have seen you at Fermoy.  Hope the UK is going well for you.  Any more plans for the eddy?

Looking nice mate!

Thanks Brown

Thanks Monte, you have a gorgeous eddy yourself.  I have the front diffuser sprayed gloss black, I redid it last week as there was plenty of stone chips.

I was actually thinking of wrapping the rear diffuser in gloss black, do you have any pics of your diffuser done?

Regarding the white reg plates.....there was a bit of a craze over in Ireland a few years ago of guys putting yellow plates on Irish cars...go figure

Thanks Matto, I'm really happy with the H&R shock/spring combo, lowered nicely and as I said the handling is much better.  Really like the colour of your mkv, wouldn't see it too often  :happy2:

How hard was it to get the dash trims out for wrapping?

Pretty easy matto, just wrapped a microfiber towel around a dinner knife, a round headed one would be safer.  Get the knife in at the corners and pop the clips as you work your way along the trim.  You can buy trim removal tools as well but I wasn't bothered and took my time.
