Dead battery after RNS-510 installed
« on: December 05, 2011, 04:39:33 pm »
Hi all,

I had the RNS-510 version F installed with canbus update for my GTi 2006. Two weeks in and my battery has died. Can't open the boot or anything! I did a long journey only last week (300 miles) so not sure what is going on.

Any ideas? Can I check the canbus is the new one?

Thanks

Not sure if the F is any different from the C, but if you have access to VCDS then check that the gateway is a version L or higher

Hi,

I don't have the adapter unfortunately but the company that fitted it are replacing the canbus so hopefully that will fix the issue. Will let you know if it doesn't

A 2006 will definitely have an old gateway.  They changed around MY07/MY08.

If you use the forum search function you can solve the problem yourself and in the process save money and learn something in the process.
