Chattering tailgate

Has anyone suffered with a chattering tailgate, mine chatters when i turn the ending off or over these surfaces put down before crossings etc

took the shelf out and its still there but leave the tailgate open and try it and nothing

Have you tried adjusting the rubber bungs so pull it in closer so it isn't as loose?

I've just sold mine so can't look

The bungs should adjust by turning them - 1 way makes them stick out more and turning them the other way pushes them in

If the tailgate is loose then you'll probably have to have the bungs sitting further out

Tailgate doesnt feel lose when shut though so it must be very minor adjustment or something else

My money is on the rear light lens, the one on the tailgate. If the noise is coming from that area (you may need to get someone into the boot and drive up a bumpy road, I volunteered my wife!) you'll have to take the trim off to get the lenses assembly off.

It's not easy to fix it 'cos it is the inner part of the lens and it's glued together IIRC.
