Switching from Microsoft to Apple

Hi guys, looking to get rid of my desktop and wondering whether to get a Macbook Pro as do some dj'ing and know they are superior for music apps.

However, have never used an Apple computer so is it hard to adapt or simply a case of getting used to how it operates and then never looking back? Are they worth the money though or better to get a well specced PC?  

Also, if do get one are you best just going to Apple direct ie you cant get any good discounts from any of the other stockists?

Apple have 0% finance on at the moment.

You can also book time with the tutors in your local Apple store (free, I think?), shouldn't take more than a few hours to get the hang of the switch - they're really intuitive and to be honest, MS have copied most of Apple's OS & style over the years, so it isn't as big a leap as it was.

I made the switch last year and found it painless to say the least. Theres the odd thing that took some getting used to but the rest is extremely intuitive as TD has said!  :happy2:

I find on the odd occasion I have to use a Windoze machine they feel very clunky and slow......

I've had my Macbook for a year now and still can't use it properly lol.  :grin:

If you use Quidco, PC World are offering £100 cashback (ends in 2 days I think) and the 15" Macbook Pro i7 has got £150-£250 off at the mo.  :happy2:

There called windows as that's what they should be chucked out of :P

Sorry I hate them, were having a new school built here and lets just say I have decided to take the risk and kit the WHOLE school out in Apple stuff, each teacher will also get a MacBook Air and an iPad, each room will have a 50+ inch screen and an Apple Tv in it (wirelessy show things of iPad onto screen) 90% of the teachers here have never used a mac before but this is how confident I am that they will pick it up in no time!

I made the switch in 2007. Firstly to an iMac 20", then to the Macbook 13" and now i have a Macbook Pro 13". I am a total Apple whore now. Firstlty i also had an iPod Touch 8GB 1st Gen, then an iPhone 3G, then an iPhone 4 and now the iPhone 4S. Also had had iPads and also currerntly rock an Apple Time Capsule.

Once you go Mac, you never go back.

I still have my machine dual booting with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit though, as i work in IT support, i like to keep windows skills fresh. (Even though im stuck at a PC all day every day).

I went Macbook and then 2 months later went back to Windows.

The grass was definitely not any greener on the Apple side.  Flame suit on.  :evilgrin:

At school my daughter got used to using Windows but also used the Macs we have at home. When she went to Uni I asked her which laptop she preferred me to buy her. Her response was "Dad! That's a no-brainer! Mac of course!"

I was born in Macdom but have used Windows machines occasionally. The latest Windows OS has some nice features but the Mac has the edge and everything is very intuitive. The business world tends to use Windows but the creative world prefers Macs and for good reason in my opinion.

Choice depends a lot on what you use a computer for.

Windows machines are cheaper but I still much prefer Macs.

I bought the flagship MacBook air in September and I love it!
Everything just works so good!

When I visit friends and family with windows laptops it really really makes me mad waiting for them to start up, run programs, and when they get the "end program now" error   :jumping:
...I could scream.

Me no likey Windows cack  :sick:

I've managed to crash every apple device I've ever tried!

We had to use them in the labs at uni and every moment was a pain.
