Scratches on exterior lights
« on: December 14, 2011, 08:55:44 pm »
I have a few scratches on my headlights and swirls on my rear lights,  can anyone reccomend a way of removing these? I have a megs g220 coming for xmas or would that be too harsh?

Should be fine. Lights are plastic so don't use anything too abrasive.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Wet and dry sandpaper will be your best bet.

Then machine polish it back, whether it be by your G220 or a rotary polisher.  :happy2:

Had some nasty deep scratches on the passenger side headlight of my M3, wet sanded it down starting with 320, then working my way down to 3000. Finished with a good polish and my DA polisher. When I was done, looked like there had never been any scratches there at all. Worked a treat. Just a word of warning, if you do wet sand, do not press too hard, let the paper do the sanding.
