Your Favourite Online Marketing Website
« on: December 08, 2011, 01:23:49 pm »
Hi all

I am doing some research and looking for people’s views on what their favourite online marketing company website is or freelance website?

Any suggestions from yourselves will be much appreciated

.
I tend to avoid buying anything online and will telephone an order if a phone number is provided. If no phone number is published I assume they are not to be trusted.

How can one have a favourite? Doesn't it depend on which products a web site specialises in? So there's an element of which products are one's favourites? Or am I misunderstanding your question?

Ok, if you were looking for say web design or online marketing, which websites do you like the design and feel of? For example do you like the design or FreshEgg.com or something different just looking to see what people like the look off in the SEO and online marketing field

But if your talking SEO does the design really matter?

Being in web design I understand I have 6-8 seconds to catch someoens attention but still if I am looking at a more SEO powered website the design isn't all that matters it's the use of key words and characters surely?

Of course all the on page factors have a huge impact but I still like to have something funky and creative rather than a bland website saying I do seo..

I get that but being into SEO your main aim should be being top of the SEO list - Which is probably one of the most competitive markets going. And being top of SEO is all about SEO so your success will avail over something such as a simple google search.

As for a design I am into simplistic but patterned etc. So something with a grainy background, noised. Like man App related websites really, here is a few that I have take inspiration from in the past for projects, you will see they all follow a certain path!

A lot of my clients know my style and I mainly do App website which you can probably tell from above. However recently I have started to work on school websites on the side, I already work in a school so I understand what headteachers want etc so it has dramatically change my personal preference of design but I feel you need this otherwise you will only have a specific type of client base - but saying that it would relate back to SEO for being skilled on one particular style which could be your USP!

I agree, although I wouldn’t target such broad terms longtail keywords work allot better and attract more serious leads.

My USP is quite unique and I only have a small handful of clients but they are well paying ones, I guess asking you to build a Freelance Online Marketing Website is out the question

Epiphany are probably the leaders here in the North West. We work with them frequently.

The thing is, a lot of SEO providers concentrate too hard on achieving good page rankings and forget to create an impression through design and content. I'd personally pay far more attention to a company that says the right things, and looks the more credible offering, over a company that achieves high rankings through needless repetition of keywords etc.

Lol it's possible everything is possible, the problem I have it time and dedication as I still currently work full time in a school to as there Network manager, so needing to go home and sit behind my mac again for hours isn't something I do all the time right now.

Things will be moving forward soon hopefully, the school I am at is moving to an all Apple school so that's something that I need to focus on for now but happily know up a PSD design or something ;)

Andrew that last link is a nice simplistic design wouldn't of taken to long to make but works very well, I quite like it to be fair!

Just to add the only issue I have with that (it's my hatred thing lol) is when you collapse all the tabs the justification obviously nudges as your loosing the scroler, it doesn't do this on a mac running the latest software as that's hidden but on a windows machine it does, just something I don't find pleasing on the eye is a site being nudged about etc.

Other the that is is spot on, simple but effective! I like!

I know nothing about website design creation but do know a lot about effective communication and the importance of the interface. So clean and clear layouts with easy intuitive navigation is essential. Any manifestation of an organisation's interface with its customers and suppliers reflects much about that organisation and its attitudes, whether a one-man business or a multi-national.
