Pay up for a Pirelli?

I am looking for an Ed30 and have come across a few Pirelli's for sale.

I appreciate the specs of both and the comparative rarity of the Pirelli edition.

What concerns me with the Pirreli is the rarity of wheels and trim if I ever damage them and cost of replacement?

I like the look of both and don't really have that much of a preference, in that I would sooner buy a better condition Ed30 over a lesser condition Pirelli car.

So, like for like is the Pirelli worth any more than an Ed30, is it likely to hold it's money better?

Any thoughts greatly received from those who have had a similar dilemma.

Apparently there are only 222 Pirellis as opposed to 2300 ED30's, but Pirelli was not exactly launched to commemorate anything (like the Ed30 was), if it was I dont know what?.

Both hold their money and both are great cars and equally tuneable, depends what you want really altho i think you may have answered your own question, ED30 lower mileage possibly higher specced for same price as low spec higher mileage Pirelli.

I like both and own an Ed30. 

USED Parts for Ed30 are scarce enough let alone trying to find Pirelli stuff

Pirelli's rarer but the Eddy looks better. I'd rather that than the chance I might get £500 more for my car in 3 years time

Funnily enough, I assumed a like for like (mileage and condition) Pirelli  may be £500 more purely on the rarity value.

There appear to be more 3 door cars of both available, does that make any difference to value.

I appreciate 5 doors cost more when new. I think I will likely get a 5 door for practicality, but the 3 door looks better to me and is more, well...GTI.

Sorry for apparent stupid questions, I tend to do a lot of analysis and due diligence before any major purchase, part of it is knowing I have got a good deal as well as the car, sad I know!

I reckon both are great looking cars..

but go with what YOU like most. residuals will be very similar I would have thought.

That is the point, I like them both!

I am indifferent to which version I buy, as long as I get a deal, which as cash buyer in the current environment shouldn't be too much of a stretch!

I think 5 door ED30's hold value a little more as they are more practical, my own is 5 door candy

I was looking for a 5 door and could not find one, rang about 4 to be told they were all sold, finally found one on the 5th attempt, at the time I could have easily bought from a choice of 10+ 3dr versions and 2 of them are still for sale now (8 weeks later).

Maybe GTI 5 door hard to sell but 5 dr Ed30's seem to shift alright  , not that im concerned as I generally keep a car 5 years anyway

If I was in the market for a Pirelli right now I think I would be going to see the one in the for sale section as its very cheap. Yes parts are scarce for the Pirelli but you just have to be careful with your wheels.

Yeah I would go see that one, looks good and could be a proper bargain. The wheels can easily be repainted the proper colour.

Saying an Edition 30 is better looking than a Pirelli is ridiculous - they're visually identical bar the rear badge and wheels!

I'd personally go for the Pirelli, purely based on it's exclusivity, but not for resale value. Love the wheels too.
