Newbie from Northants
« on: April 15, 2009, 02:20:01 pm »
Hi all

I'm Martin, 27 & not an alcoholic

Live in Higham ferrers, work in Northampton as a Structural Engineer

Just bought an 07 plate 3 door black gti with 18" Monzas from Vw garage in Wantage

Traded in my old faithful focus St170 with 95k on the clock.

Been browsing the site for a while ( v helpful) so thought I would register now I'm an official owner;-)

Got a few q's somebody may be able to help me with - if not I'll keep on searching!

1. I didn't notice until I got the car home but the handle that moves the seat back on the passenger side looks like it's been chewed significantly! can you buy these from vw?

2. Best place to get some mats?

3. How much do the 6 cd changers that fit in the armrest cost from vw?

4. The roof of my car has some v slightly crackled paint. Never noticed until I gave it a darn good clean ( another mistake on my part!) Is this common? I may see if I can get it sorted under the paint warranty. Otherwise it may have happened due to bird crap being left on there for an excessive amount of time - grrr

Now I have made my car sound like a right shed - it's v clean. I am just v picky!

cheers all

Welcome to the forum Drapoon

Now that you have found these couple of little faults, why not go back to the dealer and see if they will put them right for you. Its got to be worth a shout.

hi and welcome  :drinking:

most of the bits unless you want ali parts etc will be cheapest from the dealer believe it or not, and definately worth addressing the paint issue with them and your other niggles

why cd though? ipod instead?

Thanks for replies dudes

I very much doubt they will do much for me - I will however give them a try.

I guy I know has a black m4 golf & the roof on his has developed severe ezcema - wonder if black ones are susceptable to this?

Hi fella,

Aha ok I will press them on the paint problem cheers fella. It will need sorting.

I put a holding deposit on the golf as soon as it came in & headed down 2 saturdays ago. Picked it up Easter sat.
Impressed so far

Gotta say the car is very clean now but the valeter (sp) must of had an off day - spent a few hours hoovering & treating the interior saturday afternoon.

I also gave the car a really good polish using autoglym ultra deep shine & waxed it too. This cleared the majority of swirl marks in the paint.
