Monza II Replicas
« on: December 10, 2011, 09:46:20 pm »
I've got a Laser Blue GTI but think it would benefit from an upgrade from the 17'' Monzas to some polished 18s.

What is the general feeling about replicas? Are they noticeably different?

Cheers

I'd steer clear and get some second hand ones on eBay and refurb them. Genuines are more solid and hollow so lighter weight better for performance.

I'd like some monzas to replace my pescaras. Is there an easy way to tell if it's a genuine monza or a rep?  :popcornsoda:

Ive not got much room to talk really, but I went for 19" Monza reps.

….But on an Ed30, I don't think id swap pescaras for standard 18" Monza's.

Are you thinking Detroits?

Here's mine in Laser blue with 18" Monza 2's. I'd deffinately do it, but go  for real used ones off ebay, and get them refurbed. 80 quid a corner for the diamond cut finish.

Absolutely, can't beat the laser blue. Especially in the sunlight when all buffed and polished to the max!

Apparently the older ones were by BBS, and the later by Ronal, so originals could have either stamped on them. But take care, as apparently even the reps can have this on. It would seem the best way to tell is the weight.
