Which oil should I use..

Morning all, I'm due to top up the engine oil on my 06 Mk5 GTI today..any recommendations as to what oil I should use?

5W30 Longlife 3 oil

Preferably Castrol Edge or a similar high quality oil.

Correct spec is VW504/507 and as said 5w 30 weight. Not all 5w 30 oil is the correct spec though, so look for the VW504/507.

Castrol is pretty poor really, as their full synthetic is not quite as full synthetic as other major manufacturers.  :innocent:

Ideally you want it 507.01 which is the latest spec :)

Most decent brands are already 507.01 certified, but Quantum Longlife 3 from VW/TPS is to this standard.

Quantum is only VW504/507 certified. Unless they haven't started putting it on the bottle yet....

Certification changed on it a few weeks ago. I had a comm from TPS to confirm it.
