Spacers needed when fitting R32 tail lights?
« on: December 11, 2011, 11:52:27 am »
Hi guys,

I'm planning to install a pair of original tinted European R32 tail lights (looking on ebay and local Dutch marketplaces to find a good pair).
I have a 5 doors, United Grey mk5 GTI from 06-2005.

I have ETKA and found out I need the following partnumbers (Dutch lhd):
Outer left: 1K6945095T
Inner left: 1K6945093K
Outer right: 1K6945096T
Inner right: 1K6945094K

Is this correct?

But I also see on '>> 1K-6 100' I need to include some sort of spacers: left: 1K6998215 and right: 1K6998216
On '1K-6 001>>' I don't see it needs to be included.

What do  '>> 1K-6 100' & '1K-6 001>>' mean and do I need the 'spacers' or not?

Thanks,

Tim

'Upping' my own post, because I'm still looking for some good (2nd hand) ED30/R32 tails.
Who know about the 'spacers'?

If I was you I'd give TPS a call and see what they say, the spacers may be cheap as chips from them, gotta be worth a call mate

fwiw I have an 06 car and didn't need the supplied spacers when I installed my rear lights.
Without traction power is nothing!

The spacers are cheap, so if I try and it won't fit, I could always order the spacers, but I just wan't to know for sure...
What does 1K-6 100' & 1K-6 001 mean?

Never heard about the need for spacers being fitted with R32/ED30 rear lights before

Is it only for certain year cars like early ones need them and later models don't?

Old topic but maybe helpfull

Spacers are needed if you fit replacement rear tail lights on models made before Nov 2005. These spacers make sure the tail lights fit flush to your bumper. Later models have an adjustable spacer fitted.

The previous car owner of my car has fitted a replacement tail light and i need to pop into VW to get a spacer myself.

Only found out today when i was going through the maint manual trying to figure out how to remove tail lights :)
