snow.... glorious snow... (in the alps)
« on: December 12, 2011, 10:48:04 am »
Yes for all your boarders and skiers out there .... how happy are you its snowing at last.

Im off to Morzine in 4 weeks and up till last weekend it was bone dry and all the mountains were brown... But then they had 60+cm last week and are due another 1meter or so this week :)

Cant wait now. New board is all waxed and ready to go.

Where is everyone off to this year?

Still no snow in Tahoe.. Leaving in 9 days..The blowers have done the business on the slopes but the off piste is looking grim. :booty:

I've only done one trip to america for boarding but I'd never go back there just to snowboard... Fair enough if I happened to be there.. I'd never say no to a few cheeky days on the slopes... but when we have the alps on our doorstep.... I really cant see the point.

Hope you get lots of snow this week though dude!

Fellow boarders, im off to les Deux alpes on saturday (17th December) with 9 friends, this is the 1st trip of the season. This will be my first time to Les Deux although have been to its sister resort Alpe D'huez (was good and was EPIC as there were 53 of us on the trip!!, pretty much everyone I knew was on that trip!!)

A few weeks back was getting a little worried about the snow (or lack thereof) but 53cm in last 7 days and a predicted 94cm in next 4 days sounds good to me, just hope it stops snowing when we get there (at least during the day!, it can snow all night I wont mind  ), as boarding in a white out aint fun

Snow report for les Deux Alpes below.

http://www.igluski.com/france/les-deux-alpes-snow-forecast_2380

I am also going to Ischgl  (Austria) in feb with 3 of my friends who could not make the les deux trip, been there twice before in last 5 years and its an awesome place if you LOVE your apres!!  :jumpmove: :star:

Think this is my 19th snowboarding trip in 16 years (missed 2 years or 4 trips due to living in Singapore)

My Board has been pulled from the loft and given a wax and edge this weekend (done it myself, have done for last 8 years!) and my boots given a clean and wax/seal and packed away in my board bag ready for weekend!.

Just gotta pack my bags on wednesday night ready for the trip up to manchester on thursday (night out on thursday with the lads who cant come this year!) then recover fridaya dn oof saturday

We did a day in VT when we were staying just down the valley at Les Menuires, (great runs but apres seriously lacking!!), we only stayed till 5pm when our taxi picked us up so missed the apres  :sad1:
