Ive got some genuine monzas at the moment and briefly had some reps when I had my last mk5, both imo weigh as much as the moon and I don't think you'd notice any difference in weight once on the car tbh..
Reps I had were for winter rims to keep my oem monzas white worm free and quality wise seemed ok, as for oem ones there are subtle differences to the centre area and the way the graduation from the polished to painted area is cast to help you spot the reps as has been said the part numbers etc on the rear are usually present on the reps too..
I'd go for whatever ones look the best at the right price  :happy2:

Nice pics.... Looks very dark for laser blue, looks like shadow in those pics...... Might just be the light...

You're right, It is Shadow blue! Just checked the paint code on the Webternet!

The garage I bought it from advertised it as Laser blue, the dodgers!

Oh well, I love the colour, so it doesn't really matter! It does look darker than normal in some of these pics. When the sun shines on it, it changes it considerably, and looks amazing.

Cheers for pointing that out, anyway!

I think it was VC who came up with the phrase "One ruined rim deserves another"!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
