Cruise control question
« on: December 12, 2011, 09:45:05 pm »
Is there a way of telling if my car needs the additional cable without taking out off the steering panels? Mine is a 55 plate with Highline mfd and has the MFSW.

I've read the two guides on retro fitting and ordered a cruise kit from vw but suddenly realised I may only need the stalk rather than the full kit.

As a newbie, have I posted this in the right forum section or would it be better in another section?
Many thanks.

Hi.

If you have the highline MFD and MFSW then you will have the correct steering control module.

The only way to see if you have the wire or not though is to either... install the stalk and have it coded in and see if it works... or take the plug off the back of the steering control module and see if you have the wire going into hole 13 on the back of the plug.

Hi Jedi,
Thanks for the reply (I've seen your install guide and it's immense!). I've ordered the stalk from VW, the £63 kit so I am guessing it has everything I need by the sounds of things?

The question now is am I brave enough as a DIY numpty to have a go myself....gulp.
