Boot pop mod - advice
« on: December 12, 2011, 02:27:39 pm »
It looks like I need to replace the tailgate struts.

Before I replace with normal parts, I was wondering if any of you guys with the boot poppping kit can confirm whether it's better than standard?

I get the impression it's fairly unreliable - is that right?

Thanks
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Mine worked about 98% of the time. But, it does make the boot quite stiff to shut.

Cheers.

The times it didn't work, could you just open it manually all the same? And was it mainly under certain conditions it wouldn't work, such as cold temperatures?

x2 Generally when cold you will have problems with opening, but no big deal just a light pull on the lid and away you go  :happy2:

Worth it IMO, have two year old so comes in handy

As far as I know the coding only pops the lock which works everytime. But the struts don't have enough to start the movement. Second time usually works if you try again straight away?

Exactly sane as mine, only works the second time! I fitted this 3 months ago (brand new genine parts from stealers) and has barely worked the first time you pop.  :sad1:
