Cam Follwer replacement and power run fri
« on: December 13, 2011, 10:02:45 am »
I'm being a bit para, I've just been reading on the US forums, regards the cam follower problems.  Thirty mins job, plus £26 part, not too bad for a piece of mind, car has covered 34k miles, but the more you read the more worried you become.  Also, booked in for a power run too, not been the Jabba rollerrs for a looooong time.
Fingers crossed, but really good intial impressions of Jabba, and not a bad price :) I'll let you know how I get on, also I'll feel better once it's replaced  :rolleye:

The U.S fuel is crap, that's why they have so many cases. And VW uprated the part many years ago now. so it is a rare occurrence over here in the UK.  :santa:

I had my cam follower and DV replaced during my recent 40K service at R-Tek Motorsport, although the follower was still functional the hardened steel was showing signs of heat fatigue and was quite worn.  I'm sure it would have been fine but could only have gone one way.

I agree with TC though, for a gas guzzling nation that have shocking octane levels in there "gas", no wonder those big V6/8 blocks are so popular.

Jabba are good guys, used them before several times, would have my car serviced by them if it was not a 80 miles round trip

Im going to Jabba in March when I start modding my own Ed30, they have given me a good price for a Milltek TBE, Twintake, Uprated HPFP internals (will get cam follower done at same time) and custom re-map, they are also providing a courtesy car for me for the 2 days they need the car for, just got to save the rest of the money now  :happy2:

Hi Dean, cam follower should be fine, it's been on less than 10K, but just get them to check  :happy2:
