Replacement xenon bulbs
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:02:58 pm »
Noticed one of my bulbs is a bit dimmer than the other on my xenons, looking for a replacement pair which ideally give out more light than OEM bulbs and ideally have a slight blue tinge but not too much. Any brands/types u can recommend?

I'm dreading one of my dipped beam Xenon bulbs going  :scared:

One of bulbs is ever so milkier than the other on close inspection although the beam is balanced and doesn't differ in colour or contrast, so I'm probably being picky. Jay (JPC) noticed this when fitting them for me.

I'm not sure how you'll get on with replacing just one as I've heard people quote before that two never actually 100% match, unless they're both OEM or both aftermarket etc... That may be inaccurate, but it probably would help if you know the source of your other current dipped beam bulb.

Tried VW for a price? They won't be the cheapest I'm sure but worth it for a benchmark.

I'm looking to replace the pair not just one... I think both bulbs are VW but looking for new ones... It's not hugely noticeable but can be seen nonetheless... Awesome sell bulbs but I think that's just for stock none xenons.. How do use rate phillips?

Is it not a fact that if you have to replace a xenon, you should replace both at the same time so they match ?

Use a standard D2S 4300k bulb made by either GE, Osram or Phillips

If you want a bit more blue tinge get a 5000k bulb made by the above.

And no, you don't have to replace in pairs. However this can lead to difference in colour

if your going to be replacing bulbs i'd recommend a set of either Osram Xenarc's or Philips 85122's

have a quick read over at that thread for some more information about xenon bulbs and why NOT to just get your ebay cheapo's :)

Very informative

I paid 160€ for a replacement bulb and also needed an afs module at €260 + fitting. Was a bad month

Should have asked me.  :happy2:

Ill message my xenon contact and try and get a batch of bulbs sent over, its worth having spares as they are so expensive to replace.
