New car
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:11:33 pm »
Weird story this, I have been banging on about 135s for ages, anyway other day she says just buy one!!! I'm like ok  :signLOL: we would need to buy a bigger car also for the kids and holidays, so I reckoned at 5k passat tdi would do. So offs I trot the BMW where they had a lovely grey 135, so get money sorted and trade in for mine, last minute I have a guilt trip about spending so much money on a car that's basically a toy for me and buy a 123d m sport 5 door hatch :signLOL:
It's actually a fantastic car, good chassis and brilliant engine, will get pics up soon, she is happy and I'm gonna get a cheaper toy to replace the mx5, liquid yellow r27 anyone? Yes please :signLOL:

I think diesels are great everyday cars, The 123d is very quick, 200 bhp, twin turbo so loads of torque, but like all diesels, you just don't get the same feel as a petrol, I do about 20000 miles a year in the family car, so logic says get a diesel, the mpg is not as good as other diesels, but considering how quick it is, 45 mpg will do me, and dad has got to have a bit of fun :happy2: an r27 is the Clio pov :happy2:

I looked but it's very similar to mine, just looks blander and had more advertising so people who know not about cars start looking, if I was buying a petrol it would have been 135i, I have had 9 hot hatches now, and tbh, there is only so much you can do to fwd a 2 litre and a turbo before they all seem the same.

Sounds a good purchase  :happy2: I'm quite a fan of the 123D and am looking at one next too in Coupe form.

You'll have to let us know what the economy is actually like JH.
Look forward to pics

I did very much the same, was all set for a 135i then bought the 123d coupe. Im doing 1500ish miles a month and it was a no brainer. If I did less mileage ( I did 300ish per month when I had the ed30 ) I wouldve got the 135i...

Mines stage 1 and 60quid gets me 420miles regardless how I drive ( usually dont hang around ). Trip comp show 42.8  :happy2:

Get some pics up

6-pots or GTFO.

Seriously though, I nearly bought a 123d an age ago, as I drove one and it impressed me that much - pretty much as petrol-like a diesel engine as you can get.

BMW are knocking money off all the BMWPerformance gear at the mo, the suspension kit (Bilstein shocks/H&R springs/front ARB) is a good buy along with some E9x M3 front wishbones... it'll blow you away!

Sideways yo!

123d is almost certainly my next wagon, subject to actually test driving one.

If a diesel impresses you mike it must be good!

Woke up to 2 inch of snow this morning, 245 rear tyres enjoyed it :signLOL: will post some pics when I take some, but so far very impressed, she ain't bad for a derv. As for the BMW performance stuff, I fancy cosmetic rather than performance ( it is a 5 door family diesel), the carbon rear diffuser and I love the gear knob they do, gonna see if dealer will do us a deal
