Re-flashing an ECU

If a MK5 GTI has Revo software on it, should a dealer be able to re-flash the ECU with the standard VW software to erase the Revo programmes? 

My dealer seems to be having difficulty doing this to my car because the software is telling them that the ECU already running the latest version.

Has anyone had this done by a VW dealer, as opposed to Revo who I know can re-flash an ECU with the standard software?

I couldnt get my vw dealer to do it for me. Youre best bet is to go to a revo dealer and ask them to flash back to factry stock, not just the stock that  sts performs, whch isnt really a stock file.

Seems strange considering all the old threads we had, were cars went into dealers for a service and came back reflashed to VW for updates.   :rolleye:

Must be something new.  :chicken:

Youve hit the nail on the head there TC,
When the car is plugged in, they say it automatically says that in needs am update, so does it automatically.
When it doesnt need an update, they cant get the file to flash it. That is, unless you have a bloke working at the dealers that knows what hes doing :xmassmiley:

its all back together and they are running it for a few days to make sure all is ok with it

Yes its possible, but the average VW technician doesn't know how!

Yes I may as well Andy, as I always run my car on the stock setting.  If the dealer can't do it I'll get Allan to do it.  Hope yours gets sorted out this time!
