AMD software + Miltek exhaust
« on: December 14, 2011, 01:23:45 pm »
Hey guys been reading through PVW and noticed AMD have an offer on ATM which is a stage 1 engine software upgrade & milltek exhaust supplied & fitted by them. Not sure if it's non res system or not! The price for a MK5 Golf GTI is £785 unsure if this included VAT!?  Has anyone had a remap by AMD & are they worth the trip down south. As I'm from Edinburgh... REVO had an offer on that was £100 off maps so think it worked out to around £500 for a stage 1

Not sure whether its worth waiting for REVO again as they have a fitter local to me (autohaus) or go for AMD and Milltek combo....  :rolleye:

I have the miltek and AMD remap on my edition 30, i think its a great combo and cant fault the map at all its powerful and very linear no sudden power all nice and smooth from low down i do recommend it,
on the other hand i popped over to awesome gti and was taken out in a revo edition 30 as i was thinking about making the change to revo as its local to me, it felt very fast but not as smooth in power delivery imo but i guess the map can be tweeked to how you like it but the Revo didnt impress me enough to change over so ill stick with Amd for now.
what ever you choose id recommend changing your fuel pump as i get some stuttering in the higher rev range.
hope this helps
Stu

Reason I was thinking AMD was there current offer with map & exhaust but REVO makes more sense as autohaus isn't far from me and have a good rep too! Any ideas on how much a Milltek exhaust costs?

i have heard VERY good reports of AMDs work, i have a standard edition 30, was tempted by a chip, but heard too many problems when its done......revo, well generic map? not tailored? i dont want problems so thats why i am going to keep it standard.......and my exhaust has not gone yet so see no need to change it!

i like fast cars and think think the ED30 is pretty fast......i have only had trouble from a 335i.........left me coming out of a roundabout....wanted a chip the! but like i say i dont want the probs that go with it....

if i want more i will buy an R :jumping:

does the stage 2 map increase performance or just stop the warning light which sometimes lights up after fitting a down pipe?

Is the AMD map tailored specifically for the engine or is it a generic map?
