Guys im confused with the doubts over the outputs.

The tfsi engine is considered one of the most conservative engines ref power output.

I've seen every single rr I've looked up on the internet and read in magazines that the tfsi tends to output 10% over factory claims.  JKM is the only rr I've seen get such low figures.  Its the same across europe and the states.

I find it hard to believe that this massive spread of results which run at almost exactly the same as the superchips rr are incorrect.  I'm more inclined to believe jkm are very conservative.  The fact the r32's and diesels ran as expected only makes me believe its not a question of the rr accuracy but the conservative claims vw put on the tfsi engines.

At the end of the day, the results matched exactly what all the different tuners claimed for their outputs.

Also remember, official figures are based on 95 ron fuel and vw state the fsi engine will produce more power on 98 ron and above.

This also ties to the fact that every single magazine out there have tested performance figures much quicker than the again conservative figures from vw.

VW state 0-60 at 7.2 secs for a manual gti

The slowest test ive seen is at 6.7 sec's with the majority around 6.5.

I agree with this post 100% mate. I agree there were some slightly odd results but for the most part I think they were preety accurate. I am not knocking JKM in any way but the results on Saturday preety much mirror results from car's in different states of tune from all over the world. I had a chat with Mark from VWR and he mentioned that the rollers were spot on, VWR dyno their race cars here so they have to be accurate otherwise they would be going against the rules in the series their cars race in.  :happy2:

i believe they were right aswell, but theres just a few people results that dont make sence.

Chris with 296bhp??  and caz with 18 bhp over in her oilburner?  so it wasnt just the fsi's?

i can completely understand caz's car being over, the diesels almost always are over by a good 10%

God knows whether this offers a potential explanation, but were the cars that ran later in the day the cars that were achieving silly figures?

E.G. Mine was towards the end of the day, Dom T's was shortly after mine, as was VW Rascals. Caz's was late too.

Dom's ran higher than expected, and VW Rascals stock GTI ran 230hp if I remember correctly?

Although saying that....there was another standard GTI that ran quite early on that got 230hp.

Dunno?

Here is my graph - kindly provided by Jamie!

If anyone can make logical sense of it - to maybe help explain the higher than expected figure then feel free lol!

eeek 78bhp loss  :surprised: , thats 40% (of the wheel figure) or 28% of the flywheel

Id read
http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/coastdwn.htm
http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/POWER3.htm

and given it was in 5th then it will be a higher figure.

Quote
For sure though, no 2wd car in the world, unless it has flat tyres and a gearbox full of sand, loses anything like 30% of the engine's power in the transmission and tyres as many rolling road operators would try to have you believe"

Be interesting to compare everyones @wheels figures  :happy2:
I'll state again , as a relative comparison between cars on the day its fine  :happy2:

Which was roughly in-line with the other Stage 2 cars such as Robin and TC yes -who also ran early on?

Is yours stage 2 Mark?

I'm sure I ran mine at about half 9 or so and that made 230 standard. Then Ben 'the wheel man' ran his about an hour or so later and that made 215 off the top of my head so I don't think the time comes into play with the results.

The one thing that I'm more happy about is that the power curves match up perfectly with what they should be so as far as I'm concerned theres no issues = Tuning commences

Exactly - the great thing about rolling roading your car standard is that you can see that it is running healthily as a basis for your future mods!

Yeah as you say... I had a feeling that some GTI's that ran early on were also producing high figures - maybe more cars towards the end were exhibiting higher figures than those early on.... We'll wait and see when all the results /graphs get published I guess!
